Description

Why chartering a sailing boat for a fishing-trip is such a great idea?

There is no better thing than fishing with the power of sails. The sailing yacht speed is ideal for line fishing and is a unique experience even for experienced fishermen.
We organize special fishing trips with fishing lines or rods, tuna fishing or troll (depends on the season).
You can combine all the advantages on being on a sailing yacht and having all the amenities (toilette, kitchen, your bed, an indoors table etc) stay on board and at the same time do lots of fishing from spot to spot where you can break and enjoy swimming, snorkeling or just relaxing under the sun away from the beach and the crowds

Ideal period and duration for these trips

End of August, September and October are the best months for fishing. However, we can organize such trips even during other months, following different fishing techniques eg. Using fishing rods while the boat is not in motion.

Route (indicative)

Day Fishing trips start either early in the morning or before and after sunset and their duration is almost 5 hours (depends on your preferences). Fish are creatures of habit, and tend to feed twice a day: at dawn and at dusk. So it follows that these are the best times to try to catch them.

We organize day trips of few hours to 2 & 3 day trips around Halkidiki area, but we also recommend the experience of a 4 to 6-day, off- season trip (September or October) to Sporades islands, searching for the “Wicked Tuna”…

Swimming is optional during these trips.

Join us because we are well-equipped with rods and lures and we know the area and all the fishing spots like the back of our hand since we have been fishing in these waters from a really young age.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why sailing with Flying Sailship?

The Flying Sailship experience means you’ll eat the local way, travel the local way, sleep the local way and experience the ultimate Greek Hospitality no matter what activity you choose to enjoy with us. Both crew members have spent many years in the waters of the North Aegean, have already explored all the secret paradises for you, and can give you all the necessary tips to enjoy your stay on the yacht and even show you how to sail a boat. At the same time our skipper is a very experienced, certified skipper, having great sailing experience in some of the most challenging waters of the world.

Q: What is the maximum group size?

The maximum capacity on our boat for Day Sailing Trips is 8 (plus 2 crew members).

Q: Is sailing experience required?

No. It is certainly welcome but not required.

Q: Are children allowed?

For safety reasons we would prefer not to host children below the age of 6 year old.

Q: Are animals allowed?

Although we love animals we would prefer not to host animals during these trips for the convenience of the rest of the group. In case the boat is booked by a whole group of friends, then animals could be travel on board.

Q: Which is the meeting point for the trips?

The embarkation/disembarkation point is at Aretsou Marina in Kalamaria.

Q: What should I bring with me?

  • Some deck shoes that can get wet (white rubber soles are preferable)
  • A jumper or a waterproof jacket – while days on the water can be beautifully warm (depending on the time of year off course), it can get quite cold during the evenings, so bring something to stay cozy in.
  • A beach towel
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat

Tip: Just remember that it is a huge pain trying to haul a massive suitcase up and down a tiny stepladder.

Q: Can you assist me with post or pre trip accommodation in Thessaloniki?

In Thessaloniki, we can give you some accommodation options but we do not cooperate directly with any provider.

Q: How much does transfer from and to Thessaloniki Airport cost? How long does it take? One-way taxi drive costs about 10-15 EUR (max 4 passengers) – Trip duration: approx. 15 mins Buses are readily available in Thessaloniki until late at night (23:00 - 00:00)
