Kelyfos is a beautiful, uninhabited island situated just across the village of Neos Marmaras. The island is shaped like a turtle and that’s where it gets its name (Kelyfos in Greek means shell). The only inhabitants of the island are wild goats. The island is famous for its deep waters and spectacular sea-floor, making it an ideal destination for divers.
Porto Koufo is the deepest natural harbour in Greece. The harbour was mentioned by the historian Thucydides. German submarines used it during World War II because of its geographical location.
